Why test for Radon?

  • Every home has at least some levels of radon gas and 1 in 3 homes in Utah have levels considered unhealthy by the EPA and need radon mitigation.

  • Radon enters a home through foundation cracks and cold joints, openings around plumbing pipes, and crawlspaces.

  • Our inspectors will test for radon using a radon detection machine that will test the air periodically over the course of 48 hours.

  • Because radon is both colorless and odorless, it can only be detected by testing with special equipment. Radon test kits can be set up quickly and only need to run for 2 days to get accurate results.

Know.

Testing for Radon:

  • Most radon exposure occurs inside homes, schools and workplaces.

  • Radon gas becomes trapped indoors after it enters buildings through cracks and other holes in the foundation.

  • Breathing radon over time increases your risk of lung cancer.

  • Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.

  • We will have test results after 48 hours.
